Framing tapes used on the backs of pictures differ considerably to the packaging and masking tapes on the market. The main difference being that picture framing tape bonds more aggressively to your backing and frame moulding and will hold firm for a long time and NOT dry out like the packaging tapes do over a very short period of time.

Kikusui and 3M Scotch are two of the more popular recognised brands on the market. The ATG adhesive transfer tape is a double sided tape used in the framing industry.
